Compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for Denver children, adolescents, and teenagers. Our only goal is to help young people feel understood, build resilience, and thrive.

Something is Wrong, but You're Just Not Sure What to Do Next.

Maybe your child has stopped talking about their day. Maybe the meltdowns have gotten more frequent. Maybe your teenager has become a stranger in your house. When a child is struggling, so is the whole family.

At Snyder Therapy, we specialize in child and teen therapy in Denver and online that meets young people exactly where they are. Our trauma-informed approach means we don't just treat symptoms, we look at what's happening beneath the surface to help build the tools they need to feel safe, capable, and connected.

Teen in therapy

Children and Teens are Facing More Than Ever

Today's young people are navigating extraordinary pressure. Academic demands, social comparison amplified by social media, family transitions, identity questions, and a post-pandemic world that's left many kids with unprocessed anxiety and grief. This can show up as big emotions or behavioral challenges while others become withdrawn.

We provide therapy options that fits the age of your child and addresses a wide range of challenges, including:
• Anxiety, worry, and fear
• Depression and persistent low mood
• Trauma and PTSD
• OCD and intrusive thoughts
• Behavioral challenges and emotional dysregulation
• ADHD-related struggles with focus, impulsivity, and self-esteem
• Life transitions
• Social difficulties and peer relationship challenges
• Identity development and self-esteem

How We Work

Not every difficult behavior or emotional struggle in a child or teen is rooted in trauma, but many are. Trauma therapy for teens and adolescents requires a different lens than standard talk therapy. At Snyder Therapy, every session is grounded in an understanding of how trauma affects the developing brain and body. We don't push young clients to talk about things before they're ready. We build safety first and healing follows from there.

EMDR for Children and Teens

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the most well-researched approaches for trauma treatment and it's just as effective for young people as it is for adults. EMDR is particularly powerful for those who've experienced a specific event or series of events that left a lasting emotional imprint. As it doesn’t require deep conversations, it is well-suited for young clients who struggle to verbalize their experience.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps adolescents recognize the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. For teen anxiety therapy, it helps identify anxious thought patterns and gradually build tolerance for uncertainty and discomfort. For younger children, CBT concepts are adapted to be age-appropriate by using stories, games, or visual tools to bring the ideas to life.

Behavioral Therapy for Kids

Behavioral therapy focuses on building specific skills and shaping patterns of behavior in ways that are reinforcing and sustainable. This is especially helpful for children dealing with oppositional behaviors, impulse control challenges, ADHD-related struggles, or difficulty transitioning between activities. Sessions are structured and skills-focused with clear goals the child can see themselves making progress on.

Why Families Choose Us for Child & Adolescent Therapy

Children and teens don't heal in isolation. The relationships, environment, and patterns at home are a vital part of how a young person grows and recovers which is why we involve parents and caregivers throughout the therapeutic process. Finding the right therapist for your child is one of the most important decisions you'll make. Here's what families can expect when they work with us in-person at our Denver office or online:

• A therapist who genuinely understands the intersection of trauma and child development
• Trauma-informed care that never rushes a young client past what they're ready for
• EMDR training and experience applied specifically with children and adolescents
• Thoughtful parent involvement that respects your teen's need for privacy

The right support at the right time can change the trajectory of a young person's life. We'd be honored to be part of that.
