misophonia
What is Misophonia?
Misophonia is a condition where specific sounds trigger overwhelming emotional reactions, like anxiety, panic, disgust, or anger, leading to significant distress. Imagine hearing someone chew gum, and suddenly your whole body is flooded with anxiety. You can’t focus on anything but the sound, and it feels like you're trapped in a situation that’s only getting worse. The panic intensifies each time, and soon, you start avoiding situations where you might hear those triggering sounds—isolating yourself from others in the process. While it might seem irrational to some, the anxiety and panic you experience are very real. I’ve been there too.
How I can help:
I know that dealing with misophonia can feel isolating and overwhelming, but I want you to know you're not alone—and you're safe. As someone who has lived with misophonia and found significant relief through different treatment approaches, I am deeply passionate about helping others break free from the anxiety, panic, and isolation that misophonia brings.
Here’s how we can work together:
Build Understanding
We’ll start by developing a shared understanding of misophonia and how it affects you.
Empower You
I’ll teach you strategies to advocate for yourself, so you can create a sense of safety in your body and environment.
EMDR Therapy
We’ll use EMDR to desensitize your emotional responses to triggers, helping you break the cycle of panic and anxiety.
Create a Coping Plan
Together, we’ll develop tools to handle stress and anxiety when life throws curveballs.
Celebrate Your Freedom
Finally, we’ll celebrate your progress—especially the freedom to connect with others without fear of triggering anxiety or panic.
